Birch Glen Fun Day – a Success

FundayBirchglenThe long planned Neighbourhood Watch / Cllr : birch Glen estate fun day was on Sunday 27th August
Funded by a donation (facilitated by Cllr Martyn Warnes, ) from the Local Co op who donated the Burgers to give away free to residents
A bouncy castle lent by Family Mosaic Housing associations
And insurance etc funded by Cllr Chris Pearson, Cllr Martyn Warnes, and Cllr Dave Harris
A fun stall laid on by Local Church (Orchard Baptist church from Blackheath)
Aims of the day were
To have fun
Involve families in the discussions of their estate
To assist building a sense of community
And to sign up new Neighbourhood Watch members who look after the area by reporting issues, and members to receive NHW watch bulletins on crime stats from Police, and debate how to create a better estate to live in
This fun day and community building event was very apt, after trouble with gang violence lately (reported in the local gazette) its never been so important for communities to report whats happening in their area.
Birch Glen residents turned up to enjoy a pleasant afternoon, and the great news is the NHW are already planning an event for next year, bigger and more stalls
