Weekly Update – 30th Sept 2017

Hello there

This week saw the Councillor advice surgery at Scout Hall (27th Sept) run by Shrub End team leader Mike Dale go very well, with issues raised dealt with.

And – this week as County Councillor I put questions to Essex County Council over the care service (Which I have asked for an charter to be adopted supporting the carers and those that are cared for) and on Bus Services in Colchester, esp the 50 and 62.

Finally, the planned litter pick in Birch Glen was carried Councillor Martyn Warnes, Councillor Chris Pearson , and myself (Councillor Dave Harris) with residents joining us to keep the estate tidy.

An effective week, with casework raised by local residents brought to a successful conclusion

Strike a light !

I requested a broken lamp post to be replaced and light restored to a working condition.

Simple.. you would have thought.

But Essex County seem to have run out of money.. they are telling me they cannot do anything until the new budget next year!!!

A disgrace.. this lamp is in a small cul de sac.. with very little light.

We pay for our services.. and I have demanded action..

Community Litter pick 23rd Sept

Today Councillor Martyn Warnes and Councillor Dave Harris met up and litter picked the whole estate on Finchingfield Way, Wethersfield Road, Pebmarsh Cl, Thaxted Walk, Gosfield Road etc etc

We collected a few bags of rubbish to keep our area tidy.

Great to chat about local estate issues, and some national subjects as we went round.

A great big thank you to those who spoke to us.

(Birch Glen is next Saturday — see you there!)

Community work to benefit the area

Been out today (17th September)  cutting back, clearing, and tiding the footpath between School Road, Berechurch Childrens centre , and The Willows.

No brambles in the faces of children and mums going to school, no branches pokeing out, and no litter.   A safer way to school..
Thanks for community payback service..

Litter Pick for Berechurch team, and residents support.

Litter picks are carried out most weekends throughout the year by Councillors Martyn Warnes, Chris Pearson and Dave Harris (Dave also being the County Councillor for Maypole)

Saturday 16th September 2017 was the turn of the Cherry Tree area (including the Holt Drive Estate)

A big thank you to all the residents of all ages who came and picked up litter to clear our streets.

Cllr Dave Harris

Safer Colchester

Last night I spoke with passion to Safer Colchester panel over the need to target resources to South Colchester.

Safer Colchester panel is made up of Police and Local Authority reps.

I told them we need extra patrols and extra work on gangs and the anti social behaviour which is on the rise in the area.

Watch this space to see if these much needed resource is forthcoming.
