Potholes and Road Surface in Queen Elizabeth Way, Berechurch

The road surface on Queen Elizabeth Way in Berechurch has been deteriorating rapidly due to the harsh weather conditions over the winter and due to lack of maintenance by Essex County Council and Essex Highways.
Despite this being reported by Councillor Dave Harris several times, the road surface has still not been rectified. Contrary to popular belief, road repairs do not fall under the control of Labour/Lib Dem Colchester Borough Council but the Conservative controlled Essex County Council. The County Council have continuously neglected roads repairs in Colchester, despite receiving 85p of the council tax paid by Colchester residents.
Dave continues to report the deteriorating condition of the road surface on Queen Elizabeth Way and has been told by Essex Highways, that the road in its current state, it is not considered a high priority for repair!

This is a short-sighted view in terms of our infrastructure, as often the Engineers come and repair the same location more than once. In the long term, this underfunding for Colchester’s roads will cost the County Council more in the long term.
Councillor Dave Harris will continue to press this issue with Essex Highway to ensure that Berechurch residents are not short-changed by poor infrastructure.
